LI-ION Battery Chargers

The NB2-LI-ION and the ZB1-LI-ION design are Li-ion battery chargers that is compatible with the NB2x, ZB1, NB1 and NB1A. The NB2-LI-ION charger interfaces withe The NB2, NB2A and NB2AS microntroller boards. The ZB1-LI-ION interfaces with the ZB1, NB1 and NB1A microntroller boards. Each charger outputs a regulated 3.3VDC using either the battery, USB port or the wall adapter.

The USB port and wall adapter are diode or'ed onto the input voltage bus (VBUS). The three position toggle switch connects the input of the 3.3V LDO to either the battery or VBUS. The OFF position is in the center. The output of the 3.3V LDO connects to the external voltage input connector of the microcontroller board.

To retrofit an existing board ---

1. Remove the or'ing diode and the optional external power header from the microcontroller board.
2. Mount the LI-ION charger to the microcontroller board using the #2 mounting hardware.
3. Wire the LI-ION to the microcontroller board using jumper wires (22AWG bus wire).
